Smyer loses to Sudan 65-36, at home

The Smyer Bobcats took on the Sudan Hornets for their district matchup last Friday where they lost 65-36 at home.

The first quarter of the game had the Hornets taking a small 116 lead off of their ability of getting inside the paint and getting six first quarter points from under the basket.

The second quarter for the Bobcats was rough for them as they were outscored once more as they were able to get 13 points to fall for them before the half but allowed Sudan to get 17 to go.

The score at the end of the half was Sudan leading the Bobcats 28-19.

Leading the Bobcats in scoring at the half were both Brayden Wade and Rylan Smith as they both had seven points at the half, six of each of their points coming from inside the paint.

Going into the third quarter of play Smyer wasn’t able to keep up with Sudan as they were outdone 19-5 going into the fourth quarter of play, trailing by another 23 points.

For the final quarter of play Smyer was able to get 12 points to fall for them before the end of the game while giving up another 18 points.

Leading the Bobcats in scoring on the night was once more both Wade and Smith as they finished the game with 11 points a piece against Sudan.

Micah Zapata had six points, three Bobcats finished the game with two points each in Micah Stevens, Mason Medart and Gio Garcia and Austin Martinez finished with one point.

The Smyer Bobcats fall to 622 on the season while in district play remaining 0-11.

The team’s next game in district play is against the New Deal Lions this Friday as the visiting team at 6:15 p.m
