The South Plains College track & field program com peted in the Corky Crofoot Shootout at Texas Tech University on April 30, resulting in several noteworthy results for SPC.
In the men’s 4x100-meter relay, the Texans team of Quinton Gordon, Kyle Lawrence, Omar James and Lilian Caron-Douillard placed first with a time of 40.24. In the women's 1,500-meter run, Jennifer Lozano placed third with a time of 5:02.14, and in the men's 1,500-meter run, Ylies Mihoubi placed second with a time of 3:48.30.
In the women's 3,000-me ter steeplechase, Alison Guaman Tisalema placed second with a time of 11:56.90, and in the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase, Grayson Hastings placed third with a time of 10:24.40 and Donovan Martinez placed fourth with a time of 10:35.24. In the women's 100-meter hurdles, Rashema Lindo placed sixth with a time of 14.18; Oluwatumininu Sanyaolu placed eighth with a time of 14.32 and Ta’Nae Henderson placed ninth with a time of 14.41.
In the men’s 110-meter hurdles, Jamison Lewis placed sixth with a time of 14.12.
In the women's 400-meter dash, Cheffonia Houston placed ninth with a time of 56.36; Camio White placed 10th with a time of 56.54 and Mathilde Maison placed 14th with a time of 57.15.
In the men’s 400-meter dash, Joshem Sylvester placed third with a time of 45.95 and Zion Miller placed seventh with a time of 46.86. In the women's 100-me ter dash, Shahyna Coudriau placed ninth with a time of 11.96 and Chrissona Bargaineer placed 19th with a time of 12.33.
In the men’s 100-meter dash, Isaiah Gamble placed fifth with a time of 10.80 and Lawrence placed sixth with a time of 10.89. In the women's 800-meter run, Icela Swaby placed sixth with a time of 2:20.31 and Lozano placed 10th with a time of 2:23.90.
In the men’s 800-meter run, Yassine Bounasri placed first with a time of 1:49.37; Demari Caldwell placed fifth with a time of 1:51.94 and Tamer Sakar placed sixth with a time of 1:52.04. In the women's 400-me ter hurdles, Morgane Lenoir placed third with a time of 58.55, and in the men's 400-meter hurdles, Lewis placed ninth with a time of 57.17. In the women's 200-me ter dash, Coudriau placed seventh with a time of 24.70 and Mathilde Maison placed 13th with a time of 25.13.
In the men’s 200-meter dash, Elijah Joseph placed fifth with a time of 21.11; Aiden Kelly placed eighth with a time of 21.47, Isaiah Gamble placed ninth with a time of 21.54, James placed 12th with a time of 21.67, Caron-Douillard placed 13th with a time of 21.69 and Olaoluwa Ogidan placed 14th with a time of 21.94. In the men's 5,000-meter run, Abdirisak Saidgurhan placed fifth with a time of 14:58.71 and Dennis Cheruiyot placed sixth with a time of 15:13.56. In the women's hammer, Kahllah Bailey placed sev- enth with a throw of 44.29 meters, and in the men’s hammer, Niklas David placed fifth with a throw of 48.48 meters.
In the women's shot put, Suerena Alexander placed sixth with a throw of 13.53 meters. In the women's javelin, Alexander placed first with a throw of 46.65 meters and Charlotte Domas placed fourth with a time of 39.01 meters.
In the women's discus, Bailey placed eighth with a throw of 38.51 meters, and in the men’s javelin, Titouan Dobo Bi placed second with a throw of 68.64 meters, Anthony Diaz placed third with a throw of 67.30 meters and Rayvohn Telesford placed fourth with a throw of 64.63 meters.
In the men’s high jump, Logan Mennel placed fifth with a jump of 1.92 meters and Houston Stark placed sixth with a jump of 1.87 meters.
In the men’s pole vault, Jules Courel placed second with a vault of 5.31 meters, and Haden Judd and Diego Constantino tied for fifth place both with a vault of 4.56 meters. In the women's triple jump, Leticia Ouaba placed fourth with a jump of 12.43 meters.
Following the meet, SPC Head Track & Field Coach Wesley Miller shared his thoughts on the program’s performance.
"This meet was an opportunity for one last test before our National Championships. We had many season bests and several lifetime best performances,” Coach Miller said. "Our next two weeks we will look to con tinue to sharpen and freshen up for the last meet of the season. The team is looking strong, and we go in ranked in the top five nationally for both genders.”
The NJCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships will take place from Thursday through Saturday at New Mexico Junior College in Hobbs.
