The Sundown Roughnecks took on the Post Antelopes for their second district game of the series on the road where the Roughnecks won 4-3.
The Antelopes were the first team on the board in the bottom of the first inning getting two runs. One Antelope scored off of an error by a Roughneck and a batter hit a fly out to send another runner home, making the score 20 early.
Sundown was able to get in on the scoring in the top of the third after Hunter Clark hit a double to center field sending in Jaxon Rodriguez to score cutting the Post lead down to one.
Post answered back in the bottom of the third by getting another run off of a double hit into right field to get their lead back up to two points, making the score 3-1.
The Roughnecks were able top tie the game up at the top of the sixth inning when Rian Rose hit a single and Jayson Martinez grounded out, each scoring one run making the score 3-3.
Sundown was able to hold off the Antelopes after the Roughnecks Isaac Lopez hit a single in the top of the seventh inning, taking the lead and their defense holding strong in the bottom of the seventh to give them the close district win.
Rodriguez earned the win for the Roughnecks as he gave up three hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out 14 and walking three.
Sundown piled up 10 hits in the game. Rose, Clark and Landry Farrar each collected two hits for the Roughnecks. Lopez, Rose, Martinez and Clark each drove in one run for Sundown. Martinez stole two bases for the Roughnecks.
The Sundown Roughnecks progress to 9-8 on the season while their district record goes up to 6-4.
The Roughnecks will finish off their district schedule against the New Home Leopards this Tuesday as the visiting team at 5 p.m. and again this Friday at home at 5 p.m.
