The Sundown Roughnecks hosted the New Home Leapords this Tuesday where the team fell 73-21.
The first quarter of the game was the closest it would get in the game as Sundown would only be down by three at the end of the first due to their great defensive play. The score at the end of the first was 13-10.
The second quarter of the game is when New Home started to pull away as they outscored the Roughnecks 23-to-2 taking a 24 point lead going into the halftime break.
Coming out of the break it wouldn’t slow down as the Leopards wouldn’t slow down as they scored another 22 points in the third while holding Sundown to three.
For the final quarter of the game the Leopards put the game away by going on another run this time, 18-to-6 to end the game.
Leading the team in scoring for the Roughnecks was Branson Sanders as he had eight points on the night.
Kye Powell had four, Briar Miller had three and three Roughnecks finished with two points a piece in Coen Nevarez, Jayson Martinez and Watson Evans.
Sundown falls to 5-11 throughout the year and will be a solid 1-1 in district play.
The team will play against the Seagraves Eagles next Tuesday for the teams third game of district play as the away team at 7:30 p.m.
