The Sundown Roughnecks visited Post to play the Antelopes in an important district game for both teams and lost a hard fought match, 28-21. Post scored first to take a seven-point lead in the first quarter. The Roughnecks answered with a 20-yard pass from Adan Escamilla to Koy Torres and Jaxon Rodriguez kicked the PAT.
The Antelopes scored again in the second and missed the PAT.
The Roughnecks answered on a two-yard-run by Branson Sanders. Sundown missed the PAT and the game went to halftime knotted at, 13-13.
Both defenses held strong in the third until Post scored with two minutes left.
The Antelopes added a twopoint conversion to go up by 8. The Antelopes scored again after a blind-side hit on Escamilla popped the ball loose for a scoop and score in the 4th and the PAT gave Post a 14 point lead with seven minutes to play.
Sundown answered with 3:27 left when Hunter Tindol called his own number for a one-yard score and then again to run in the twopoint conversion. With two minutes left, the Roughneck defense had the Antelopes in a 4th and long, but a hole in the secondary was exploited by Post to seal the game.
Sundown falls to 1-2 in district and no longer control their own destiny. Sundown travels to first place New Deal on Friday night to try to keep their post-season hopes alive.
