Sundown handles Post 48-44

The Sundown Roughnecks played against the Post Antelopes this past Tuesday as the away team where the team won, 48-44 in a close one.

Sundown started off hot by grabbing an early lead over the Antelopes, 15-to-9 by getting physical in the paint and earning their points.

The second half of the game was more of the same for Sundown as they were able to hold the lead going into the halftime break. The Roughnecks were able to outscore the Antelopes 11-to-10 and keep the lead out of reach by leading 26-19.

Jayson Martinez was the leading scorer at the half with nine for the Roughnecks as he was imposing his will in the paint.

Coming out of the break it would be Post to finally outscore Sundown by two. Although they outscored them in the third Sundown still held onto a 38-34 lead going into the fourth.

The fourth quarter was a very defensive game as neither team got the edge on one another and both teams were able to put up 10 points each in the Roughnecks win.

The leading scorer for Sundown was Briar Miller who had 11 on the night with six of them coming from the third quarter.

Martinez finished the game with nine, Watson Evans had eight, Adan Escamilla had seven, Kye Powell had six, Branson Sanders had five and Jaxson Rodriguez finished the game with two.

For the Sundown Roughnecks they are going into district with a 1-0 record.

The teams next game isnt until the second of January where they will pick up where they started as they will face-off against the New Home Leapords as the hosts at 7:30 p.m.
