The Sundown Roughnecks hosted the Sundown Oil Patch Invitational where they invited teams from around the area to compete against this past Saturday.
The boys team placed sixth out of 13 teams and their best runner of the day was Jaydith Shelton who finished in 31st place with a time of 20:38.
The rest of his teammates Julius Contreras placed 36th, Ryan Pope finished in 38th, Lincoln Keesler finished in 39th, Edgar Carrion finished in 41st, Daniel Mauldin finished in 46th and Sebastian Posadas finished in 58th. The team did well as their time spread was exactly 30 seconds apart from each other.
The girls team tried their best as well as they placed sixth place out of 11 teams, the girls best runner was Kaytlin Clausen who finished in seventh place out of the meet with a time of 14:44.
Her teammates also helped quite a bit as they were able to secure some crucial spots for them. Addilyn Hord finished in 15th, Julia Posadas finished in 21st, Jaelin Wylie finished in 45th and Jamie Sims finished in 83rd place for the team.
The team did well and hope to get better as their next meet is at the UIL 2A District 5 Cross Country Meet on October 9, that will take place in Yoakum County Golf Course.
