Sundown Roughettes fall against Portals Lady Rams

The Sundown Roughettes competed in the Littlefield Tournament this Wednesday through Friday and faced off against the Portales Rams from New Mexico for the first game of the tournament.

The first quarter of the game started off with the Lady Rams taking a jump start leading the Roughettes 18-9.

The second quarter was more of the same story as the Roughettes would have a hard time getting anything going for them as they would be outscored 22-to-12 and falling behind even more.

Allie McCormick was the leading scorer at the half as she was able to rack up 13 points in the front half.

For the second half of the game the Roughettes would struggle to get anything going as they would only be able to score another 12 points in the third and fourth while allowing another 26 points.

McCormick was able to finish leading the team in scoring with 21 points in the game.

Kyndal Taggart finished with four, Hannah Holdman and Camry Jourden both finished with three a piece and Kadee Riley finished with two on the day.

The Roughettes shot for 39% on the field while going 53% from the free throw line.

Sundown was able to outrebound Portales 33-to-16.

Although Sundown was able to force 12 turnovers they gave up the ball another 24 to the Lady Rams in the teams loss.

To start off the tournament the Sundown Roughettes would go 0-1 and on the season they fall to 9-10 on the year.
