Sundown Roughnecks cruise past Borden County

The Sundown Roughnecks took on the Borden County Coyotes this past Tuesday as the visiting team in UIL baseball play where the Roughnecks won 8-4.

Sundown was able to get on the board early on after Caleb Clausen grounded out and Rian Rose singled, each scoring one run.

The Roughnecks committed an error which helped Borden County tie the game at two points a piece at the bottom of the second.

Sundown was able to recapture the lead at the top of the third inning, 5-2, after Rose singled, Hunter Clark walked and Coen Nevarez singled, all of them scoring a run each.

Jaxon Rodriguez pitched for three innings in relief for the Roughnecks. He gave up one hit and zero runs while striking out six and walking none.

Rose stepped on the bump first for Sundown as he allowed one hit and two runs with zero earned over two innings, he striked out one and walked another Coyote.

Both Rodriguez and Rose were back-to-back in the lineup as each drove in two runs for the Sundown Roughnecks.

Rayden Flores led the Roughnecks with three walks, the team overall had six walks altogether.

Rose stole three bases while the team as a whole stole four bases in the game.

The Sundown Roughnecks progressed to 3-3 on the season with their next game against the Smyer Bobcats this Saturday at home at 11 a.m.
