The Sundown Roughnecks hosted the Seagraves Eagles this past Friday for the team’s last district game of the season where the Roughnecks lost, 52-14, finishing fourth in district play.
With Sundown finishing fourth in district they were able to sneak into playoffs.
Seagraves was the first team on the board with a rushing touchdown in the first quarter taking a early 7-0 lead after a made PAT.
Sundown was able to answer back with a score of their own with a Marcus Solis rushing touchdown to make the score 7-6, after the Roughnecks missed their PAT.
The Eagles answered with another touchdown of their own, on the ground again from twoyards out to extend their lead 14-6 in the second quarter.
With an error from the Roughnecks they fumbled the ball towards the endzone, Seagraves capatalized on the mistake and makes the score 21-6 after they broke off a huge run.
Seagraves had a huge surge of offense as they made the score 35-6 at the halftime break.
The Eagles had two more touchdowns in the second half along with a field goal to end their scoring making the score 52-6 at the beginning of the fourth quarter.
Sundown had their final touchdown of the game come from a five-yard rushing touchdown from Isaac Lopez to make the final score of the game 52-14.
Sundown’s offense finished off with 111 rushing yards and 204 passing yards on the night.
Adan Escamilla had 136 yards with two interceptions in their contest. Coen Nevarez had another 68 yards passing.
Leading the Roughnecks in rushing was Nevarez with nine carries for 53 yards. Dago Chagoya had five carries for 36 yards, Braiden Lara had one yard with one fumble, Brayson Frey had one yard for one fumble, Rayden Flores had two carries for three yards, Solis had seven carries for 13 yards and one touchdown, Isaac Lopez had four carries for 11 yards and one touchdown and Escamilla had four carries for negative 13 yards.
Leading Sundown in receiving yards was Briar Miller with two catches for 80 yards. Josh Hogan had three catches for 53 yards, Nevarez had one catch for 35 yards, Chagoya had one catch for 22 yards, Nathan Flores had one catch for 11 yards and Toby Lopez had one catch for three yards.
The Sundown defense had a tough time stopping the Seagraves offense as they gave up 408 rushing yards and 12 passing yards on the night.
Sundown finishes off their regular season with a record of 37 on the season as they get ready to take on the Wink Wildcats in Odessa at Ratliff Stadium at 7 p.m. this Thursday.
