Whiteface Antelopes take district win over the Sundown Roughnecks

    The Whiteface Antelopes took a 45-36 UIL Division 5-2A road win over the Sundown Roughnecks in UIL high school boys’ basketball action last Tuesday.

    The Antelopes led throughout the game, but the pesky Roughnecks wouldn’t go away.

    Whiteface led 12-8 at the end of the first quarter and 18-16 at halftime. The third quarter saw the Antelopes up 30-27 at the buzzer.

    It was the fourth quarter where the Whiteface offense took advantage of opportunities to put the game away.

    Jeremiah Rendon led the Antelopes with 17 points. Cesar Chavez had 12. Ethan Kauffman had six. Jaxon Hodge had five. Ivaniel Gandara had three. Isaak Soliz had two.

    Adam Escamilla led the Roughnecks with 12 points. Isaiah Igo and Nathan McAdams had six each. Kye Powell and Brock Bufe had four each. Isaac Lopez and Briar Miller had two each.

    Whiteface will be in Morton at 6:15 p.m. Friday. Sundown will host Seagraves at 6:15 Friday.
