Whitharral 58, Tahoka 39

The Whitharral Lady Panthers had little trouble with the Tahoka Lady Bulldogs with a 58-39 UIL High School Girls’ Basketball win last Tuesday in Tahoka.

Coach Madison Ortega credits their current success to the last season.

“All the hard work last year laid the foundation for this year and we are already seeing it,” said Ortega. “The team chemistry is way ahead of schedule and I am excited to see us make a run this year.”

Whitharral went up 19-17 in the first quarter, but then held the Lady Bulldogs to just a single free throw in the second to lead 38-18.

Tahoka tried to rally in the third quarter, outscoring the Lady Panthers 16-9, but the Lady Bulldogs couldn’t keep up the pressure in the fourth.

Paige Smith had 28 points. Madi Chavez had nine. Rylee Kristenek had seven. Avery McCain had six. Tyler Parkinson had four. Elizabeth Reyna and Trinity Coronado had two each.

The Lady Panthers will host O’Donnell at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28.
