The Whitharral Lady Panthers started UIL district 7-1A high school girls’ basketball play with two convincing wins last week, 81-8 in Amherst on Tuesday and 83-32 over visiting Meadow.
Whitharral 81, Amherst 8
The Lady Panthers allowed Amherst two points in the second quarter and six in the fourth.
Paige Smith had 35 points including a school record nine treys.
Madi Chavez had 14 points. Trinity Coronado had 10. Avery McCain had nine. Rylee Kristinek had seven. Elizabeth Reyna had four. Tyler Parkinson had two.
Whitharral 83, Meadow 32
The Lady Broncos were able to put up 10 points in the first quarter against Whitharral’s 18, but the Lady Panthers shut Meadow down in the second quarter for a 45-10 lead. Whitharral led 69-25 in the third.
Smith had 29 points. Chavez had 19. McCain and Parkinson had 10 each. Kristinek had seven. Coronado had six. Reyna had three.
The Lady Panthers will be in the Caprock Tournament in Lubbock on December 28-30.
