Whitharral Lady Panthers remain undefeated

The Whitharral Lady Panthers started off their season 3-0 after wins against Denver City, Brownfield and Sudan; all at home.

Whitharral 60, Denver City

For the team’s first game of the season they took on the Denver City Phillies where they won 60-26.

To start off the game the Lady Panthers led 15-3 in the first quarter with the team being able to drive into the paint with ease, getting 10 of their 15 from down low.

The second quarter had even more scoring with Whitharral scoring 23 points while holding Denver City to only six points before the halftime break.

The leading scorer for Whitharral at the half was Sheridan Neal with 13 points, six of them coming from inside the paint.

Going into the third quarter of play, Whitharral outscored Denver City once more 20-9 extending the team’s lead to 58-18 going into the final quarter of play.

For the fourth quarter of play Whitharral just burned out the clock as they took the big win over the Phillies 60-26.

Leading the Lady Panthers in scoring in the game was Paige Smith with 20 points in the game. Rylee Kristinek had 14 points, Neal had 13, Valeria Frias had five, Madi Chavez had four and both Elizabeth Reyna and Trinity Coronado had two points each.

Whitharral 64, Brownfield

For the team’s second game of the season they took on the Brownfield Lady Cubs at home where they won 64-33.

At the start of the game, Whitharral took a big lead in the first quarter as they led 17-4 against the Lady Cubs.

In the second quarter it was more of the same story as Whitharral outscored Brownfield 19-5 extending their lead 36-9, going into the halftime break.

For Whitharral the leading scorer at the half was Smith with 16 points at the half with 10 points coming from inside the arc.

Coming out of the halftime break Brownfield outscored Whitharral 14-8, cutting into the Lady Panther lead making the score 44-23, going into the final quarter of play.

Whitharral bounced back in the fourth quarter of play though as they scored 21 points in the end while holding Brownfield to 10 to win the game 64-33.

Smith finished off the game with a team high of 26 points in their game. Kristinek had another 16 points, Neal had 12, Coronado had six and Chavez finished with four in the team’s blowout win.

Whitharral 75, Sudan 63

For the team’s third game of the season they took on the Sudan Lady Hornets at home once more where they won in a closer game 75-63.

For the start of the game against Sudan the Lady Panthers were on fire from under the basket as they scored 20 points, with 12 of them coming from inside the arch while holding Sudan to nine points.

Going into the second quarter of play Whitharral outscored the Lady Hornets once more, this time 28-12 making the score 48-21, going into the halftime break.

The Lady Panthers leading scorer at the halftime break was Smith with 15 points, six of them coming from long-range shots.

Whitharral was outscored in the third quarter as they were held to 19 points before the final quarter of play while Sudan had 21 points making the score 67-44.

For the final quarter of the game the Lady Hornets outscored the Lady Panthers 19-8 making the score close, but the game was decided as Whitharral remains undefeated winning 75-63.

The Lady Panthers had two players end the game with 25 points in Smith and Kristinek. Frias added another 10 points, Neal had seven, Chavez had six and Madi Reyna had two.

The Lady Panthers are 3-0 on the season as they get ready to take on the Idalou Lady Cats this Tuesday at home at 6:15 p.m.
