The Whitharral Panthers took on the Texline Tornadoes this past Friday at South Plains College for their regional semifinal matchup in UIL Basketball Playoffs where Whitharral lost 81-53.
The start of the game had Whitharral getting the first basket of the night as they had the score at 2-0 with 6:19 left in the quarter.
Unfortunately it would be one of the only times the Panthers would lead in the ball game.
Whitharral would be outscored in the first quarter 18-8 as Texline would go on fire from beyond the arch.
For the second quarter of the game the Panthers were outscored once more 25-16 as they would trail by 19 points at the halftime break.
The score at the end of the half was Whitharral trailing 43-24.
Going into the third quarter of the game Whitharral was not be able to keep up with Texline offensively as they had nine points fall for them out of the half while the Tornadoes had another 20 points go their way in the contest.
The score heading into the final quarter of the game had Whitharral trailing 63-33.
For the final quarter of the game the Panthers finally outscored the Tornadoes 20-18 in the end although it was too late.
Leading the Whitharral Panthers in scoring in their contest was Nate Sansom who had racked up 16 points.
Brent Robinson had another 14 points, Nomar Gomez had nine, Jack Griffin had eight, Landon Lee had four and Damian Rodriguez finished the game with two points in the teams loss.
The Whitharral Panthers finished their season as District, Bi-District, Area and Regional Quarterfinal Champs on the season, they finished with a 24-6 overall record under Head Basketball Coach Matt White and Assistant Coach Jeremy Holt.
