Lady Cats fall to Lady Eagles

The Smyer Lady Cats fell 6233 to the visiting Ropes Lady Eagles in UIL High School Girls’ Basketball action November 28th. The Lady Eagles are currently ninth in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches’ Class 2A poll.

Ropes handles Smyer

The Smyer Bobcats couldn’t find and answer for the potent Ropes Eagle offense in an 89-26 home loss November 28th, in UIL High School Boys’ Basketball action. Ropes blew out to a 29-2 lead in the first quarter and led 50-11 by halftime. The Eagles were up 68-18 at the end of the third quarter.

Whiteface Antelopes host Tournament

The Whiteface Antelopes had a rough weekend with a 1-3 finish at the Way Out West High School Basketball Tournament in Whiteface. Whiteface 49, Friona 45 The Antelopes started with a 49-45 win over Friona on Thursday.

Sundown Roughnecks travel to Denver City

The Sundown Roughnecks traveled to the Denver City Shootout for a tournament where they finished 2-1, losing only to Denver City. The first game of the tournament the Roughnecks went up against the Midland Trinity Chargers where the team won in a close game 63-50.

Lady Lopes beat Kress

The Whiteface Lady Lopes had little trouble with the Kress Lady Kangaroos November 28th in a 52-12 road win in UIL High School Girls’ Basketball action. Whiteface was ahead 10-2 in the first quarter, then jumped out to a 33-7 lead at halftime. The score at the end of three periods was 40-11.

Panthers cruise past O’Donnell

The Whitharral Lady Panthers took a big lead in the second quarter and cruised to a 57-40 win over the O’Donnell Lady Eagles November 28th, in UIL High School Girls’ Basketball action at Whitharral.

The Whitharral Panthers overwhelmed the visiting O’Donnell Eagles 69-23 in UIL High School Boys’ Basketball action November 28th. The Panthers led 18-7 in the first quarter and 32-11 at halftime. Whitharral was up 53-15 at the end of the third period. Nate Sansom led all scorers with 18 points.

Eagles down Steers, at Farwell

The Ropes Eagles downed the state-ranked Farwell Steers 79-48 last Tuesday in UIL high school boys’ basketball action at Farwell. Ropes led 20-14 at the end of the first quarter and 41-27 at halftime. They led 55-42 at the end of three quarters. Branson Simental led all scorers with 21 points.

Whitharral Football Season wrap-up

Several Whitharral Panthers have earned UIL Region I, Class 1A-2, District 2 football honors. The Panthers overcame a number of obstacles on their way to a 9-2 season with UIL Class 1A- 2 football district and bi-district championships.
