The Sundown Roughettes took a 6-1 lead in the bottom of the first inning and rode it to a 20-1run rule shortened home win over the Petersburg Lady Buffaloes in UIL high school softball action last Saturday.

Allison Monge finished fifth, Naylea Saucedo finished third, Kadi Salinas finished second and Malaya Tienda finished as the regional champion. The Ropes Eagles overwhelmed the Roosevelt Eagles 13-3 in UIL high school baseball action in Acuff last Tuesday. Ropes went up 1-0 in the top of the first, but Roosevelt went up 2-1 in the bottom of the second inning with back to back RBI doubles.

Jennifer Silva and Celia Sumbane each recorded a double-double Thursday night as the topseeded South Plains College women’s basketball team bested Hill College 59-50 at the Tiger Pit to advance to the region semifinals. South Plains will square off with second-seeded McLennan at 7 p.m.

STATE BOUND- Sundown has two state qualifiers in girls powerlifting. Congratulations to Jaelin Wylie and Ariel Hernandez for qualifying for the Texas State Powerlifting Meet. Levelland wins doubleheader at home

The Levelland Lobos wrapped up the Levelland Line Drive Classic with a doubleheader at home Saturday. An early lead for Levelland in game one set th stage for a win over Slaton Levelland grabbed an early lead on its way to a 9-3 victory over Slaton.
