AREA CHAMPIONS - The Ropes Eagles were crowned Area Champions last weekend after defeating the West Texas Comanches in a best of three sweep. The Eagles took game one, 11-1, and took game two with a 3-0 score. The Eagles advanced to the Regional Semi-Final round to take on the Stamford Bulldogs in a best of three series in Snyder May 15 -17. The results of the series will be in Wednesday’s issue (May 21). Pitching for the Eagles in game one was Cutter Stumbo. Stumbo pitched a full five innings as the game ended early due to run-rule. Track athletes compete at state championships

Several local athletes competed in the UIL State Championships this past weekend in Austin.For Levelland, Ryan Jeanneret placed fifth with a time of 2:00.30 in the 800 Meter.For Ropes, Kolter Dockery placed second with a time of 10.70 in the 100 Meter.

Roughneck baseball ends playoff campaign during bi-district round

The Sundown Roughnecks wrapped up their baseball season with a bi-district exit against the New Deal Lions this past weekend.The Roughnecks would drop back-to-back games in a neutral site series in Littlefield. Sundown would cap off their season with an 11-12 record.
