At last, evening had come. After a simple meal of potatoes, onions, yogurt, and bread, my husband and I were grateful for the chance to collapse into bed. Our host was the local doctor, a government employee who had welcomed us into his home during our stay in the Romanian countryside.

It was the kind of table that looked like it had heard secrets. Wide, weathered oak, legs carved with vines and lambs, tucked inside the old barn at Stable Hill—a place where the wind always seemed to whisper something holy.

Local rescued dog battles for survival

Many have seen the picture of the beaten-up white dog all over FaceBook, on the Lost and Found Pets in Levelland page, now known as Salty.Seeming frightened and injured, it’s safe to say he is now in safe hands at the College Avenue Animal Clinic. The clinic gave him his name as well.

St. Michael 2025 Jamaica set for Oct. 5

Music, food, a car show, volleyball and cornhole tournaments and much more is being planned for the 2025 St. Michael Catholic Church Jamaica set for Sunday, Oct. 5.Sherman St. across from the Levelland Walmart and will conclude at 8 p.m. with a raffle drawing for a $5,000 gift card and other prizes.

Petticoats on the Prairie coming to Mallet The Petticoats on the Prairie premier vintage market will be returning to the Mallet Event Center on Oct. 17-18 for two days of unique shopping. Friday hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
