NorthSide Church of Christ celebrated it’s 70th anniversary this past Sunday. The planning stage for Northside began in 1950 to serve as the gathering place for the Black members to worship. The building was completed and opened for worship in 1955.

The Levelland Chamber of Commerce lists its meetings and events for the month of September.The Ag Committee shrimp boil will be held on September 10 at the Mallet Event Center invitaion only.Marigolds will hold a meeting on September 11, at 12 P.M. to 1 P.M. at the City Hall Conference Room.

South Plains College offering fall quilting orientation class

South Plains College started a quilting orientation class at 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 2 in Room 121 of the Technical Arts Building on the Levelland campus. During orientation night, several quilts were available for viewing.Weekly afternoon and evening classes will be available start Sept. 15.

Hockley County Food Box accepting food donations

The Hockley County Food Box and South Plains Community Action continue to accept food and monitary donations.Working to keep families and individuals fed, the food box is accepting donations such as: canned vegetables, canned meat, canned fruit, dry goods and nonperishable food items.

Ropes ISD announces afternoon pick-up change

The Ropes Independent School District is notifying parents and guardians of an afternoon pick-up adjustment for Pre-K and Kindergarten students beginning Monday, Aug. 25.The changes are being made to accommodate an on-going roofing project at Ropes ISD.
