cupcakes, oh my!That’s what you will find at Lexi’s Bakery down Austin Street in Levelland.Operated and owned by Alexis Nguyen, she has ran this business for about a year and a half. Nguyen started baking about two and half years ago when she was a stay at home mom and she heard a calling from God.

South Plains College awarded two grants funding open education resource projects

LEVELLAND – South Plains College received two grants that will support open educational resource (OER) projects aimed at innovating curricula in welding and respiratory care programs.The Division of Digital Learning at the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board awarded $119,950.

Ropes ISD announces afternoon pick-up change

The Ropes Independent School District is notifying parents and guardians of an afternoon pick-up adjustment for Pre-K and Kindergarten students beginning Monday, Aug. 25.The changes are being made to accommodate an on-going roofing project at Ropes ISD.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Texas’s population surpassed 31 million – – a 7.3% growth since 2020.This creates significant health care challenges for Texans, particularly rural populations that tend to be elderly with nearly 20% of residents older than 65.

Continuing to dedicate her time, kind heart and love to the Levelland community, Barbra Pinner was nameed the August Volunteer Spotlight courtesy of the Levelland Chamber of Commerce.Pinner has grown up around West Texas all her life, originally being from Odessa, Texas.

Texas labor market adds 8,700 jobs in July

AUSTIN -Texas had 14,333,800 total nonfarm jobs after adding 8,700 positions over the month of July. Over the year, the state added 232,500 jobs for an annual nonfarm growth rate of 1.6 percent, outpacing the national growth rate by 0.6 percentage points.

TxDOT urges safe driving in shcool zones

As Texas children head back to school, TxDOT is calling on everyone to be extra cautious in school zones and around school buses to help keep kids safe.School zones can be hectic places with children walking or biking to school, sometimes dashing between cars and hopping on and off buses.
