Cotton scouting school scheduled for surrounding counties

The Texas AgriLife Extension office will be hosting IPM Cotton Scouting & Mapping Clinic Series for Hockley, Cochran and Lamb Counties IPM Program. These programs are opportunities to learn or refresh how to scout for pests and how to map the cotton plant.

SPC hosts quilting orientation class May 2

South Plains College will provide a quilting orientation class on May 2 (Tuesday) at 5:30 p.m. in Room 121 in the Technical Arts Building. Registration will be conducted during orientation.

SPC hosts annual Peace Officer Memorial Service Wednesday May 3

The annual Peace Officer Memorial Service is slated for 10 a.m. Wednesday May 3 on the lawn at the entrance to South Plains College. The keynote speaker will be Sam Stock, Texas Regional Director for ALERRT for Regions 4 and 5.

Local churches announce plans for upcoming Easter services

Local churches are planning to celebrate Easter with Maunday Thursday, Good Friday and Easter services this week. First Assembly of God Church, located at 709 9th Street, will be celebrating Easter Sunday, April 9, with a pancake breakfast beginning at 9:00 a.m.

Pantry open seeks donations

The Austin Street Church of Christ food pantry is still open in spite of the shortages from the South Plains Food Bank. “We haven’t been able to get anything but canned goods from the South Plains Food Bank for some time,” said Minister Jay Kelley.

Bill’s Backpack Donations for April

Bill’s Backpacks of Levelland continues to take food and monetary donations to restock from the holiday break and going forward into 2023. For the month of April will be vienna sausages.
