SPC encourages song wirting contest participants

Are you an aspiring songwriter? South Plains College will host a Song writing Contest for aspiring talent in the West Texas area. Sponsored by SPC’s Commercial Music Department, the winner of the contest will be featured during Fest Week on March 30 in the Tom T. Hall Studio.

Cochran work group meeting set Feb. 22

The Cochran County Local Work Group will be holding a regular meeting February 22, at 8 a.m. in the Cochran County Activity Building. The meeting will open with group introductions followed by an introduction to the Barker Research Fram from Kerry Sider, hockley county extension agent.

City Council cancels Monday meeting

The Levelland City Council has canceled their upcoming regular meeting for Monday, February 20. According to the City Secretary Andrea Corley, the meeting was canceled due to the lack of agenda items. The next meeting is set for March 6th.

NATIONAL BUS DRIVER’S DAY

 It is National Bus Driver Appreciation Day and Levelland Independent School District are celebrating their bus drivers. We have a lot of students who begin their day with the bus drivers.

Well, Valentine’s Day has come and gone. How is that romantic feeling now? It seems like this idea of romance that is so sought after and pushed by our society does not last long. Probably just until the next fight or disagreement. Romance is far more delicate than one might think.

THETA EPSILON

THETA EPSILON--The Theta Epsilon Chapter of Delta kappa Gamma recently met. The program was presented by John and Bette Hope of the Hockley County Historical Commission. Mr. Hope took the members on a visual tour of several historical areas in Hockley County as he described each in detail.

HISTORIC GRANT

HISTORIC GRANT--The City of Sundown Library is honored to announce that it is one of five organizations within Texas and among 47 total organizations in 21 states who were chosen by the National Trust Preservation Fund for a seed grant of $5,000.

SPC hosting 25th scholarship gala February 24

South Plains College will be hosting its 25th annual Scholarship Gala at 6:30 p.m. February 24, in the Mallet Event Center. The “Silver Celebration” will bring an evening full of excitement, entertainment and – most importantly – fundraising for scholarships for South Plains College students.
