House votes to block military campaign in Iran

In a 215-208 vote, the House of Representatives rebuked President Donald Trump’s military campaign against Iran.The measure directs the president to withdraw U.S. forces from hostilities with Iran unless Congress authorizes the war.

Trump proposes new tariffs

The Trump administration proposed new tariffs between 10% and 12.5% on 60 trading partners to revive Trump’s signature economic policy, which the Supreme Court ruled most were illegal.

Mauldin named Outstanding Performer at state band contest

Texas State Solo “Outstanding Performer” Daniel Mauldin, a recent graduate of Sundown High School and euphonium player in the Roughneck Band, has been named a 2026 Outstanding Performer following his solo performance at the Texas UIL State Solo-Ensemble Contest.

Bhaka sworn in at city council meeting

The Levelland city council met on June 1 to consider two ordinances, discuss the upcoming year’s calendar and hear updates.Prior to the business part of the meeting, Tushar Bhakta was sworn in by city secretary Andrea Corley to fill the District B seat after being appointed to the city council.
