LISD Board sets meeting Thursday

The Levelland ISD Board of Trustees will be holding a regular meeting Thursday, April 18, beginning at 6 p.m. in the Administration Building Boardroom.

On Monday, Governor Greg Abbott issued a disaster declaration for seven East Texas counties impacted by severe storms and flooding that began last week and continues to affect homes, businesses, and the agriculture industry throughout those regions.

Sales Tax Holiday for emergency supplies

As the state enters severe weather season, Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar reminds Texans they can purchase certain items tax free during the state’s sales tax holiday for emergency preparation supplies.The holiday begins at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, and ends at midnight on Monday, April 29.

Levelland cemetery cleanup set April 20

The first of three cemetery cleanups for the City of Levelland is slated for April 21.Cemetery personnel need wreaths, easels, ornaments, and other objects not allowed to be removed from graves and temporary markers by April 21st. After April 21st , they will be removed by cemetery personnel.

The Levelland Lions Club recently joined with 11 other clubs in District 2T2 and cooperated with the Lions Clubs International Foundation and the Texas Lions Foundation to raise $125,900 to purchase a shuttle bus for the Ronald McDonald House of Lubbock.

Newsom Grape Day slatted April 26

Newsom Vineyards, along with members from the TexasA&M AgriLife Extension Service, will host Newsom Grape Day on April 26 in Plains.This free event will be from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at Newsom Vineyards, located at 1611 State Highway 2196.An RSVP is required for an accurate head count for lunch.
