Citizens continue Red Flour Beetle battle

The Levelland City Council held a regular meeting Monday evening which covered an update regarding the infestation and investigation into the Red Flour Beetle, a budget workshop and approval of ordinances.

Police Report

8/16/2023 - 500 block of College Avenue - 6:03 P.M. The Levelland Police Department received a call regarding a reckless driver. An arrest was made as a result. 8/14/2023 - 100 block of S. College Avenue - 5:09 P.M.

Levelland Fire Report

The Levelland Fire Department received a call reporting a wreck that had occurred at S. College Avenue and E. Highway 114. Upon arrival, fire personnel found two vehicles had struck one another with EMS and LPD already on scene assisting patients.

Energy providers anticipate strain

Electricity providers in the Southwest Power Pool, including Xcel Energy, expect a spike in demand as extreme heat spreads across the central U.S. Xcel Energy and other member companies are encouraging conservation among their customers.

Cotton market relinquishes gains since last week’s report

The cotton market relinquished the gains made from the unexpectedly bullish World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE) report that was released this past Friday. Last Friday, December futures reached as high as 88.83 before settling moderately up going into the weekend.

Prevent plastic contamination in cotton

From the field to the finished bale, there are many moving parts to cotton harvest. Cotton pickers will soon roll through the fields, turning rows of “white gold” into wrapped cotton modules. Those modules are ginned into bales and ready for market to reward a growing season of hard work.
