Loboettes lose to Memorial, 3-0

This past Tuesday, the Levelland Loboettes varsity volleyball team had their Senior Night as they hosted Frenship Memorial for a district match, losing 3-0.

Memorial took the three sets 25-19, 25-20 and 27-25, dropping the Loboettes record to 10-22 overall and 3-7 in district play this season.

It was a disappointing result for Levelland volleyball, but they still had several athletes that put together standout performances against a high-quality opponent.

Senior outside hitter Hailee Estrada led Levelland with seven kills and she also added five service points.

Senior defensive specialist Tiffany File led the Loboettes in service points with six and she also recorded an ace.

And rounding out the best performances on the night, senior middle blocker Trinity Wafer posted five service points and five kills.

Although it was in a losing effort, the senior class still stepped up big and left it all on the court for the Loboettes on Senior Night.

As great as those individual performances were on the night, the Loboettes simply struggled as a team with communication and getting into a flow.

Which was reflected in the team stats as Memorial outscored them in service points by 11 and they had 10 more aces as well. The sets were closer than indicated and the Loboettes fought hard, but they’ll have to get out of their own way moving forward by communicating better as a team.

They are off this weekend before their final two district matchups on Tuesday and Saturday.

They play at Big Spring on Tuesday at 6 p.m. and then at home vs. Estacado on Saturday at 12 p.m.

The Loboettes currently sit sixth in the district standings, but they are still more than alive in the playoff hunt.

The district playoff picture is extremely complicated, but the bottom line for Levelland is that they have to win their last two games for a chance at the playoffs.
