David Hatter wins week eight of Football Contest

Week eight of the Levelland & Hockley County News Press 2025 Football Contest has concluded and the results are in.

This week the top record was 17-3, which both David Hatter and Tucker Rowland held, sending it to a tiebreaker.

Hatter won over Rowland with a tiebreaker of 48 as opposed to Rowland, whose tiebreaker score was blank.

Congratulations to David Hatter for winning week eight, which marks the second week he’s won of the contest.

Rowland was one of many of you contestants who left their tiebreaker scores blank this week, so be sure to fill those out folks, in case it comes down it.

The matchups in week eight that got most of you were SMU @ Clemson and Texas Tech @ Arizona State.

Not a single contestant picked the Sun Devils this week as they handed all of you a loss.

While Kip Hancock was the lone contestant to pick the Mustangs this week, so shoutout to him for going against the grain and nailing the pick.

The contest standings are crazy with two weeks remaining as nine contestants have 111 or more correct picks.

For context, the unnamed leader is at 121, which means the gap can still be closed.

As of late there’s been some serious shifting in the results as some of you are clutching up and others are choking on your picks.

And from looking at it I can confidently say that not only the champion, but the top three is going to come down to the wire.

So, be sure to keep submitting your picks on time and following the contest rules to remain eligible to win.

If you want to know your record or check your picks, come by the office or email sports@levellandnews.net.
