Coach Colley earns first win with Bobcats

This past Monday at home, the Smyer Bobcats basketball team earned their first win of the season, beating Ralls 37-9.

The win moves Smyer to 1-0 this season, and it also marked the first of Smyer Boy’s Basketball Head Coach Jared Colley’s career.

Senior Austin Martinez led Smyer in scoring with 13 points.

As a team, the Bobcats shot 17/49 on field goals and 3/13 from beyond the arc, along with 12 defensive rebounds, eight offensive rebounds and 13 steals.

“This was a good team win, with contributions from everyone,” Coach Colley said. “Our effort on defense was the difference today leading to turnovers and difficult shots for Ralls” It was a defensive clinic by Smyer holding the opponent under 10 points, which led to the 28-point blowout win.

They’ll try to replicate that success moving forward in their next game on Dec. 9 at 7:30 p.m. at home against Cotton Center, but until then they have an extended break..
