The Ropes Lady Eagles basketball team competed in four games in the Advanced Graphix Girl’s Bracket of the Caprock Classic in Lubbock this past Monday through Wednesday, battling against a bracket full of tough opponents.
The Lady Eagles kicked off tournament play with a 62-42 win over Alpine. Ropes only led by eight at halftime before a second half explosion where they outscored Alpine 32-20.
Scorers for the Lady Eagles against Alpine included Ella Lehnen with 15 points, Brooklyn Hogg with 11 points, Karli Rhoads, Rylie Lester and Annabelle Falls all with eight points, Zailyn Wylie with six points and Macie Lehnen with four points.
In their second game, the Lady Eagles fell to Hale Center, 51-39. Ropes led by two points at halftime before being outscored 30-16 in the second half.
Scorers for the Lady Eagles against Hale Center included Hogg with 17 points behind four three-pointers made, Wylie with 15 points behind five free throws made, Lester with five points and Falls with two points.
In their third matchup, the Lady Eagles lost 43-40 to Borden County. After being outscored 11-1 in the first quarter, Ropes fought hard to get back in the game, and they nearly pulled off the comeback win.
Scorers for the Lady Eagles against Borden County included Hogg with 18 points behind four threepointers made, Lester with eight points, Wylie with six points, Ella Lehnen with four points, and Macie Lehnen and Annabelle Falls both with two points.
In their final tournament game, the Lady Eagles lost to Reagan County, 44-41, finishing with a 1-3 record in the 2025 Caprock Classic.
