The Levelland Lobos football program recently self-reported an accidental eligibility violation to the UIL District Executive Committee, which in return led to the Lobos having to forfeit two wins from the 2025 football season.
The violation came in the Oct. 24 and Oct. 31 games against Perryton and Borger, when an ineligible player, which was unknown at the time, saw playing time in both games.
As a result, both wins have been overturned to losses via forfeit, technically placing the Lobos 2025 football record at 4-7 overall and 0-4 in district play.
The Levelland ISD administration accepted full responsibility for the error, and issued an apology to all athletes, families and community affected, and Levelland Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Lyle Leong also issued a statement.
“We are implementing stronger verification procedures, improved recordkeeping and additional staff reviews to ensure this situation does not happen again,” Leong said. “Our program is committed to integrity, transparency and full compliance with all UlL rules.”
