The Levelland Loboettes basketball team hosted #15 ranked Frenship Memorial for a district matchup this past Friday night, losing 7033.
The Loboettes played a fantastic first quarter, entering the second tied 9-9. Memorial would respond by outscoring them 22-6 in the second quarter and they would only grow their lead from there.
It was a tough game as Memorial outshot Levelland 34% to 27% from the field, 37% to 21% from three, 65% to 29% from the free throw line, also besting the Loboettes 43-33 in rebounds and by 12 in the turnover margin.
Scorers for the Loboettes included Presley Smith with 11 points behind two threepointers made, Jill Lopez with 10 points behind two three-pointers made, Trinity Wafer with nine points and Brook’lyn Cornish with three points.
The loss drops the Loboettes to 23-9 overall and 6-4 in district play, which puts them third in the 4A District 5 standings.
The Loboettes will enjoy a bye in the early part of the week before returning to action on Friday at Big Spring at 6:15 p.m. That will be first of their two remaining district games as they’ll wrap up with a matchup against Estacado this upcoming Tuesday.
