The Ropes Eagles basketball team traveled to face district foe Seagraves this past Tuesday night, dominating them 79-41.
The win improves the Eagles to 21-3 overall and 8-1 in district play, which puts them first in the 2A District 5 standings.
The Eagles led 30-18 at halftime, and they only continued their domination in the second half in route to a 38-point win.
“I was really proud of the relentless effort our kids played with tonight,” Eagles Head Basketball Coach Cameron Copley said. “Our kids got after it for 32 minutes, and it was nice to see some shots fall in the second half. Super proud of the effort and execution.”
Scorers for the Eagles included Kade Franklin with 20 points behind two threepointers made and 2/2 free throws made, Cutter Stumbo with 14 points, Kolter Dockery and Kaden Riker both with 12 points, Cason Kucel with 10 points, Malikai Mendez with seven points, and Branson Simental and Mike Williams both with two points.
Following the win, the Eagles will enjoy a bye over the weekend before returning on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at home versus Smyer.
That’s the first of the Eagles final three district basketball games, with the others against Plains and Sundown. The matchup with Plains will likely decide whether the Eagles are undisputed District Champions or Co-District Champions.
