The Levelland Lobos basketball team traveled to face district foe Big Spring this past Friday night, earning a 70-32 victory to keep their playoff hopes alive.
It was a must-win entering the game, and with their backs against the wall, the Lobos responded by out- scoring Big Spring 34-9 in the first half, and their lead would only grow in route to the blowout victory.
The dynamic duo of Bryson Golightly and Anthony Gonzales led the way in the dominant effort, both scoring 17 points. Go- lightly would record five three-pointers made and Gonzales would record two three-pointers made.
Other Lobos scorers included Graham Gibbs with eight points, Kane Rice with six points, Nehemiah Sanchez with five points, Zavien Longoria and Jeffrey Cisneros both with four points, Kaden Brogden and Dailen Abouzar both with three points, and Bentley Sepulbeda and Grayson Heseman both with two points.
The win improves the Lobos to 18-11 overall and 4-5 in district play, which ties them for fourth in the 4A District 5 standings.
Following their game against Big Spring, they have three district games remaining before the postseason. The Lobos host #15 Lubbock Estacado early in the week before hosting San Angelo Lakeview on Friday at 7:30 p.m., with their final district game coming against #9 Lubbock Cooper Liberty on the road on Tuesday.
