Bulldogs beat Amherst, 47-41, in postseason pursuit

The Anton Bulldogs hosted Amherst for a district basketball battle this past Friday night, winning 47-41.

The win improves the Bulldogs to 14-11 overall and 4-5 in district play, keeping their postseason push alive.

“Anytime you play Amherst, it is an ultra-physical game,” Bulldogs Head Basketball Coach Ezekiel Clay said. “They are strong and competitive kids that always play super hard. We were able to get a couple of their main guys in foul trouble, which helped us hold on to a close lead through the end of the game. I’m proud of our boys for pushing through the must-win game without ever losing focus or confidence.”

Scorers for the Bulldogs included Shooter Campos with 13 points behind three three-pointers made, Zian Martinez with 12 points behind four three-pointers made, Tiny Juarez with 12 points, and Isaiah Alafa and Caleb Carlock both with five points.

The matchup was a mustwin for their postseason chances, and their final regular season and district game at Meadow early in the week will be as well, as the Bulldogs are trying to secure the fourth and final playoff spot in 1A District 5.
