Lady Lopes beat Iraan, 61-14, to win Bi-District Championship

The #5 ranked Whiteface Lady Lopes basketball team squared off against Iraan in a Bi-District playoff matchup at Andrews High School this past Monday night, beating them 61-14 to win the Bi-District Championship.

The Lady Lopes came out burning hot, outscoring Iraan 25-0 in the first quarter, and from there their lead would only continue to grow.

The Gold Ball securing win marked the Lady Lopes’ 28th in a row, and when reflecting upon it, Lady Lopes Head Basketball Coach Jason Blankenship credited it to a very balanced offense and solid defensive performance on the night.

That balanced offense showed on the scoresheet as seven Lady Lopes scored four or more points including Lainey Sanders with 14 points behind three threepointers made and ¾ free throws made, Keyarah Castaneda with 11 points behind a 3/3 free throw effort, Abi Soliz with 10 points behind a 4/5 free throw effort, Emily Blankenship and Kambry Sanders both with nine points, and Rhaelyn Bracey and Taryn Turnipseed both with four points.

The win improves the Lady Lopes to 32-2 overall this season and advances them to the Area Round of the playoffs.

They’ll face #21 ranked Christoval at Sands High School over the weekend, who is 28-6 overall this season and the 2A District 7 Champion.
