Funeral services for Florence Sifa, 29 of Levelland will be held Thursday, July 20, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Levelland, Father Jonathan Phillips and Deacon Frankie Ruiz will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Levelland from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Interment will be announced at a later date.
Florence was born to Florence Ngoyi Kalume and Beatrice Nimbiya on December 22, 1993 in Bujumbura, Africa. She graduated from high school in Burundi and continued her education in the United States where she attended Jacksonville College in Texas. She received a basketball scholarship and wore jersey #23. She graduated with her associates in 2018 and transferred to Cincinnati, Ohio on a basketball scholarship. She wore jersey # 30 and earned her bachelor’s degree in information technology.
She married Jesus Herrera on December 17, 2022 in Austin, Texas. Her hobbies included barbequing, fishing, playing basketball and playing pranks on her siblings. She enjoyed being with family, working out and playing on the PlayStation with her brothers and cousins. She spoke several languages and made the best rice ever!
Florence had the most beautiful soul and was the most respectful person you would ever meet. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father Florence Ngoyi Kalume She is survived by her spouse Jesus Hererra of Levelland, mother Beatrice Nimbiya of Burundi, Africa, her parents Monica and Bobby McCoy of Levelland, sisters Paris (Austin) Via Gomez of Lubbock and Peyton McCoy of Levelland, brothers of Joshua (Summer) McCoy and Landon McCoy of Levelland and brothers and sisters left in Africa.
