Danny (Dan) James Holloway Danny (Dan) James Holloway, 73, of Smyer passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023 at his residence.
In a final act of generosity, Danny requested that his body be donated to the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Willed Body Program. The family will gather for a time of fellowship and remembrance on Saturday, April 1, 2023 in The Great Room of Eberley Brooks Event Center in Lubbock from 4:00-6:00pm.
Danny was born on April 19, 1949 to the late James and Billie (Sullivent) Holloway in Lubbock, Texas. He graduated from Monterey High School. Danny served his country in the U. S. Navy and received the National Defense Service Medal. After his honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy, Danny became a Master Electrician working for many local companies before opening his own business, DSL Electric. He was married to the love of his life, Laurie (Simmons) Holloway, for 47 years until her death in 2018. Upon retirement Danny was an active member of the Lubbock Elks Lodge #1348 and enjoyed traveling to seek out fine Texas Bar-B-Que.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sisters: Patricia Gilliam and Vicky Lee Harmon; two nieces: Allison Dagg and Melissa Rasco; and a great-nephew, Luke Anthony Brown, Jr. Survivors include his two sons, Sean Holloway and his wife Karen of Smyer, and Bret Holloway and his wife Mindy of Shallowater; four grandchildren: Dillon, Ryan, Paige and Eric; a sister, Paula DeAngelo of Swoyersville, Pennsylvania; numerous nieces and nephews, his special friend Donna Pettit and a multitude of friends who were like family.
