Lucille McClosky Grametbaur, 92, passed away on March 22, 2023 in Levelland, Texas.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Krestridge Funeral Home in Levelland. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Krestridge Funeral Home, with pastor, Jerry Howe officiating. Interment will follow in the City of Levelland Cemetery.
Lucille was born on April 18, 1930, to Charley Washington McClosky and Aurie Eddith Stringer McClosky in Wichita Falls, Texas. She married Andrew Grametbaur on July 7, 1962. They moved to Levelland in April of 1968 and Andrew opened Texas Machine & Tool Co.
While raising their children, Lucille was a stay-at-home mom and served as a girl scout leader, cub scout leader, room mother, 1 st grade Sunday School teacher, choir sponsor, & band booster. Once her children entered college, she began preparing Wednesday night meals for the people of First Baptist Church, Levelland. Soon after, she began working in the cafeteria at South Plains College where she worked until age 86. Lucille later became the Wednesday night cook at Second Baptist Church in Levelland. During this time, she honed her incredible cooking skills and her amazing chicken noodle soup soon turned into a ministry. Her legacy continues on in the kitchens of many as she shared her recipes with friends and family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Leon Eugene McClosky, sister, Viola Floy, husband, Andrew, and children, Kelly Doyle Williford and Robbie Lee Bell Kizer.
She is survived by her children, Laura Grametbaur of Abilene, Ginger Dunn (David) of Levelland, Stacey Grametbaur (Lauri) of New Braunfels and Danny Kizer (son-in-law) of Levelland. She is also survived by 2 nieces, 8 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.
