Church service for Monty Keith Merritt, age 60, of Morton, Texas, is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at First Baptist Church in Morton with Rush Coffman of Morton officiating. Burial will be in Morton Memorial Cemetery. Monty died Saturday, May 6, 2023 in Morton. was born July 9, 1962 in Dallas, Texas to W.B. and Glynna (Kennedy) Merritt.
Monty graduated from Morton High School and attended South Plains College. He farmed in the Morton community for many years. He taught 4-H Trap Shooting and coached his sons little league teams. Monty was a jack-of-all-trades and loved any two wheeled motor bike. His favorite activity was spending time with his grandkids. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Monty is survived by his three sons, Colton Merritt and his wife, Amanda of Morton, Texas, Chase Merritt and his wife, Katie of Morton, Texas and Crey Merritt of Morton, Texas; his brother, Donnie Merritt and his wife, LeAnn of Morton, Texas; and his five grandchildren, Bayler, Kingston, Evie, Taygan and Jameson.
