WAYNE DURRETT

Wayne Lewis Nathaniel Durrett, 92, of Whitharral passed away May 13, 2026, in Levelland.

Arrangements are pending with Agape Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in the City of Levelland Cemetery.

Wayne was born October 5, 1933, in Hockley County to Clyde Nathaniel and Lennie Jane (Lewis) Durrett. He attended school in Stinnett, Whitharral and Levelland. Wayne served in the army from 1954-56. He completed basic training in El Paso, MOS training at Ft. Hood, and was stationed in Verdun, France, for almost two years.

After returning from the service, Wayne worked in Libya, Africa, Saudi Arabia, and Iran to fulfill his dream of owning his own farm.

He raised his family in Whitharral and remained on the farm until recently. Wayne raised numerous crops and livestock throughout his years. He truly loved raising animals with a great fondness for horses. He loved his siblings and cherished family time, especially reunions spent with extended family.

Wayne worked in the oilfield for many years for companies including Parker, Chico, Verna, Norton, and BRW.

Wayne is survived by his children Mike Durrett and wife Karen of Whitharral and their children Jordan Barker and wife Rachel of Waco, daughter Sara Gresham and husband Heath of Levelland, daughter-in-law Stephanie Hodge of Levelland. Daughter Cindy Newsom and husband Steve of Levelland and their children Raenee Seibel and husband Sawyer of Lubbock and Keegan Newsom and wife Kandace of Lubbock. Wayne’s youngest daughter Kimberly Durrett of Lubbock and her children Kendall Durrett and wife Mayce of Levelland and Keely Taylor of Levelland. Wayne is also survived by brothers Ronnie Durrett and wife Carolyn of Lubbock and Wendall Durrett and wife Kerri of Farmington, New Mexico. Wayne had 14 greatgrandchildren and 3 greatgreat grandchildren.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Billy Durrett, Jimmy Durrett and Terry Durrett; sisters Joyce Ingle, Joan Bowen Vandiver and Carol Sanders; son Timothy Wayne Durrett and grandson Dustin Hodge.

The family would like to thank the staff at Lynwood Nursing for the great care provided to Wayne in his last months. Special thanks to Rona, Callie, Mersedes and Erica.
