The Levelland Lobos hosted the Snyder Tigers for the team’s last non-district game where the Lobos won, 55-21.
The Tigers had the first possession of the game where they did nothing with it and turned the ball over the Lobos with nine minutes left in the first quarter.
Levelland took full advantage of the mistake as Ethan Salazar hit Eryk Jones from 24-yards out for a touchdown to make the score 7-0 after the made PAT from Eli Randol.
Snyder answered back with a score of their own with a run to make the score 7-6 after they missed their own PAT on the night.
The Lobos answered back on the next drive with a touchdown run from Salazar from four-yards out to make the score 14-6 with a made PAT.
The Levelland defense stepped up once more making the Tigers punt the ball to give the offense another possession where the Lobos took full advantage making another score from Salazar to Tobias Gavina from 26-yards out to give Levelland the 21-6 lead with nine minutes left in the half.
The Lobo defense had an interception from Sean Landrum on the pursuing drive to force a turnover. The Levelland offense once more had another great opportunity where they scored off of a 61-yard touchdown pass from Salazar to Gage Potter.
Snyder couldn’t do much on offense as on the next drive Lobo Ricky Rodriguez had an interception to give the Levelland offense another shot, but it was short lived as on the next play the ball was intercepted, this time from the Tigers.
With three minutes left in the half, Snyder was able to get two touchdowns, both through the air to make the score a closer 28-21, Levelland still leading.
Although the scoreboard showed it was a close game, Levelland was in control of the ball most of the time. Going into the second half of the game, it was all Levelland as they held the Tigers to zero points while adding on another 27 points of their own.
Two of the Lobos touchdowns were from Noah Martin on the ground game, another touchdown was from Salazar to Jones and the last touchdown was off of a run from Zion Childers to make the final score of the game 55-21.
Leading the Lobos in passing was Salazar as he had 105 yards in the air with two touchdowns and two interceptions on the night. Boston Winfield had another 18 yards with an interception.
Leading the team in rushing yards was Noah Martin as he had 15 carries for 177 yards, two touchdowns and one fumble in their contest. Rodriguez had another six carries for 42 yards, Childers had four carries for 41 yards, Salazar had three carries for 18 yards, Bryson Golightly had one carry for five yards and Eli Randol had one carry for three yards.
Levelland’s leading receiver on the night was Gage Potter as he had three catches for 85 yards and one touchdown. Tobias Gavina had one catch for 24 yards and one touchdown, Jones had one catch for 21 yards and one touchdown and Golightly had one catch for 12 yards.
The Lobo defense held strong on the night as they had eight and a half tackles for losses, two and a half sacks and three interceptions.
Leading the Lobos in tackling was Gage Potter who had 12 total tackles. Randol had another 11, Kysen Niblett had nine, Kaden Brogden and Isaiah Avendano had six each, Gavin French and Deven Ponce both had four tackles, four Lobos had three tackles each in Zarian Valderas, Tanane Brackens, Gage French and Eryk Jones, Jesiah Delgado, Julian Sanchez, Zion Childers, Martin, Abram Arteaga and Rodriguez all had two tackles a piece and four more Lobos had one tackle on the night in Noah Tienda, Sean Landrum, Jake Potter and Tobias Gavina.
Gage French and Sanchez both had one sack each while Valderas had half a sack. Three Lobos had one interception on the night from Landrum, Rodriguez and Gage French.
The Levelland Lobos progress to 4-2 on the season as they get ready to start district play against the Estacado Matadors this Thursday on the road at 7 p.m.
Estacado is going into the game with a record of 2-4 on the season, coming off of a win against the Andrew Mustangs.
