The Texas Association of Basketball Coaches recently released its 2025–26 UIL Preseason Rankings, and Hockley County basketball is well represented with four different teams ranked.
The highest-ranked team in the county is the Ropes Eagles boy’s basketball team at #4 in class 2A, and the other ranked boy’s team is the Whitharral Panthers at #9 in class 1A.
On the girl’s side, the Whitharral Lady Panthers are the highest ranked team at #10 in class 1A, and the other ranked girl’s team is the Whiteface Lady Lopes at #15 in class 2A.
Each of these basketball teams ranked in the preseason have hype and anticipation surrounding them as they enter this season, so it will be exciting to watch how their seasons play out.
And although they’re not ranked, the same can be said for the other 12 Hockley County teams, who can all make a splash this year.
Hoops season is right around the corner, and by early November, all 16 Hockley County basketball teams will be underway.
