This past Friday, the Smyer Lady Cats went on the road for their district opener against the Plains Cowgirls, beating them 73-34, to improve to 15-4 overall and 1-0 in district play.
The duo of Ellie Nelson and Jada Hernandez powered the Lady Cats offense with 33 combined points, with 22 from Nelson and 11 from Hernandez.
“We played a really good game to start district play,” Lady Cats Head Coach Todd Nichols said. “It was great to get a win heading into a much-needed break.”
The Lady Cats and coaching staff will get to rest over the holidays before returning to action on Jan. 2 at 6:15 p.m. in a district matchup at home against the Sundown Roughettes.
