Lady Eagles beat Seagraves, 52-18

The Ropes Lady Eagles basketball team went on the road to face district foe Seagraves this past Tuesday night, coming away with a 52-18 victory.

The win improves the Lady Eagles to 20-10 overall and 8-3 in district play, which puts them third in the 2A District 5 standings. The Lady Eagles are still heavily in contention for the second seed though, as Sundown only leads because they’ve played one less game.

“We had a great team effort against Seagraves,” Lady Eagles Head Basketball Coach Marianne Wolfe said. “We had nine of 10 players in the scoring column with Zailyn Wylie leading the way. We were glad to have her back after missing her for the Whiteface game. The girls did a great job defensively holding Seagraves to 18 and managing our changing defenses.”

Wylie scored 16 points, followed by Brooklyn Hogg with 14 points behind 4/5 free throws made, Rylie Lester with six points, Ella Lehnen with five points, Annabelle Falls with four points, Sydney Brooks with three points, Karli Rhoads with two points, and Kamdyn Matus and Alyssa Welch both with one point.

Following the win over Seagraves, the Lady Eagles have a bye over the weekend before returning on Tuesday versus Smyer at 6:15 p.m., which marks their final scheduled district game.
