Levelland ISD held its annual tennis camp this week, July 17 July 20.
The coaching staff started the camp with two different classes; the first class started at 9 a.m. and ended at 11 a.m., while the second class started at 1 p.m. and ended at 3 p.m.
Head Coach Jeffery Braziel and Assistant Coaches Rebecca Hamilton, and Chad Lawson taught the youth camp and took time out of their busy schedule to make the camp enjoyable for the students and the parents.
The class introduced and elaborated on the game of tennis, and taught the kids how to serve, work on their strokes, control the ball movement, and the tennis court itself with movement.
They also covered singles and doubles strategy for the kids to need in the future.
Coach Braziel shared his excitement about the annual camp and how it will teach the youth to learn the basics of tennis. This year for tennis, Coach Braziel has high hopes and expectations on the future of tennis and how it will play out. He says there are little kids that are just straight tennis players and he is extremely excited about it because he knows the future for the school is bright if they are as young as they are and that excited about it.
Coach Braziel wants to teach the kids about the family culture that he is trying to build and instill in the Levelland athletes. Along with that sentiment, he is trying to get more in touch with the Levelland community as he says they have a strong tennis community just waiting to be involved.
Coach Braziel wants the young players to be a family on and off the court as those are the teams that go the furthest and evolve into a winning mentality for years to come.
