Loboettes beat Big Spring, 50-39, first round playoff matchup set

The Levelland Loboettes went on the road for a district basketball battle against Big Spring this past Tuesday, beating them 50-39.

The Loboettes controlled the game from start to fin ish, winning every quarter in route to the win, and a big reason why was Brook’lyn Cornish, who led the Loboettes with 22 points behind three three-pointers made.

Other Loboettes scorers included Jill Lopez with 11 points behind three threepointers made, Presley Smith with eight points, Sydnii Joyce with four points, and Zanity Sanchez and Destynii Jones both with two points.

The win improves the Loboettes to 24-9 overall and 7-4 in district play, which puts them third in the 4A District 5 standings.

The Loboettes will wrap up district and regular season early in the week at home against Estacado.

They head into that matchup already locked into the playoffs, with their first- round matchup being against Brock on Monday at 5:30 p.m. in Baird.

Levelland ISD is holding a playoff send-off on Monday at 11 a.m. and encourages all fans to cheer the Loboettes on as they head to their playoff matchup. For the sendoff, the Loboettes bus route will be to travel west on Hickory onto College and head north onto 114.
