Loboettes fall 3-1 against Plains

This past Tuesday, the Levelland Loboettes volleyball team fell at home against the Plains Cowgirls, losing 1-3.

The Loboettes took the first match winning 25-21, then lost the final three 14-25, 13-25 and 2125.

The team showed flashes of success during the loss, especially in the first set when they overcame a 1-7 start, coming all the way back for a four-point win.

Individually, senior Trinity Wafer shined with nine kills and two blocks, and so did her senior teammate Hailee Estrada with five kills.

Overall, it was a tough night though, as the Loboettes appeared to often have a lack of communication, which led to the majority of Plains success.

The Cowgirls outkilled Levelland, 40-21, and won the block column as well, 4-2.

On a night where everything seemingly felt off for Levelland, the frustration was visible, but with a team that’s green in so many aspects that’s going to happen. You’ve got to remember that this team has a first-year head coach, three freshmen on varsity and only three returners from 2024.

Hiccups like the loss will happen, but the Loboettes can take the loss and learn from it as they move forward looking to better communicate as a team.

They play next at the Fillie Festival tournament in Denver City from August 28-30, then return home on Tuesday for a game against Andrews at 6 p.m.
