The Morton Indians basketball team competed in four games in the Double T Smiles Boy’s Bracket of the Caprock Classic in Lubbock this past Monday through Wednesday, led by EJ Rivas, who powered the Indians offense in the tournament.
In their opening game, Morton blew out Clarendon, 57-43. The Indians led by 13 at halftime and never looked back in route to victory.
Scorers for Morton against Clarendon included Rivas with 24 points, Travion Holland and Britton Boggs both with 11 points, Rafael Acevedo with five points, and Masyn Enriquez and Jaeden Alvarado both with three points.
In their second game, the Indians fell to Forsan, 7145. Morton only trailed by seven after the first quarter but failed to stop the lead from growing as the game progressed on.
Scorers for Morton against Forsan included Rivas with 15 points behind three threepointers made, Boggs with 14 points behind four threepointers made, Alvarado with eight points, Julian Cardenas and Acevedo both with three points, and Holland with two points.
In their third matchup, Morton fell to Victory Christian, 43-34, in what was a back-and-forth battle for most of the game.

In their final game of the tournament, Morton lost to Childress, 55-52, to finish the 1-3 overall in the 2025 Caprock Classic.
Scorers included Rivas with 25 points, Boggs with 12 points, Holland with 10 points and Acevedo with 5 points.
