With girl’s district basketball play underway and the boy’s district play right around the corner, the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches recently released their district predictions for the 2025-26 season.
Our locally covered basketball teams were well represented as 12 of them were predicted to finish in the top four of their respective districts, with four predicted as District Champions.
In the boy’s 1A-District 5 predictions, the Whitharral Panthers were picked to finish first, followed by the Anton Bulldogs picked to finish runner-up.
In the boy’s 2A-District 5 predictions, the Ropes Eagles were picked to finish first, along with the Morton Indians in third and Whiteface Antelopes in fourth.
In the girl’s 1A-District 5 predictions, the Whitharral Lady Panthers were picked to finish first, followed by the Anton Lady Bulldogs in third.
In the girl’s 2A-District 5 predictions, the Whiteface Lady Lopes were picked to finish first, followed by the Ropes Lady Eagles in second, Sundown Roughettes in third and Smyer Lady Cats in fourth.
And rounding out the predictions were the Levelland Loboettes, who were predicted to finish third in the girl’s 4A-District 5.
