Levelland ISD held its annual tennis camp this week, July 17 July 20. The coaching staff started the camp with two different classes; the first class started at 9 a.m. and ended at 11 a.m., while the second class started at 1 p.m. and ended at 3 p.m.

Levelland’s own Mateo Gonzalez has found the win column again after defeating Brandon Menneses in the Peak Fighting 29 event, in Amarillo, June 10. Securing his fourth professional victory by anaconda choke in the first round, Gonzalez improves to 4-2, after two straight losses.

The west team put a 68-28 shellacking on the east team in the Texas Six Man Coaches Association All Star Division 1 football game last Saturday and Whiteface’s Brighton Scoggins got to be a part of the action. The west led 22-8 at the end of the first quarter and 47-22 at half-time.

Former Whiteface High School girls’ basketball standout Allison Martha has added another feather in her basketball cap with a 59-37 win for the west in the Texas Six Man Coaches Association Girls’ Basketball All-Star game at D.L.

Coach Flores excited about fresh start

Ropes ISD has hired a new assistant coach for football, basketball and baseball as well as teaching math. Nathan Flores took the position at Ropes after working two years at Evans Middle School. During his time at Evans, Flores coached baseball. He has been coaching for a total of 11 years.
